Since installing a T-RAC system on a dump truck at Cimbar Performance Minerals in Cartersville, Ga., the company saved at least $600 in three months. Cimbar, which is recognized globally as a leading supplier of barium sulfate, delivers raw materials, including sodium bentonite, calcium bentonite and magnesium hydroxide, to industries around the world.
In May, Cimbar installed the T-RAC system on a dump truck that hauls barium sulfate from Chattanooga, Tenn., to Cartersville six times daily - a 140 mile round-trip drive. Since May, Cimbar experienced two incidents that validated the T-RAC system, said Gene Bennett, Cimbar Production Supervisor. A 5-inch bolt stuck into a dump truck wheel, and the truck driver completed two and a half trips before stopping to plug the tire. The T-RAC kept pressure constant, despite the bolt being stuck in the tire. The tire repair at a maintenance shop was $22, versus the $300 to $400 a roadside assistance repair would have cost Cimbar management. Plus, Cimbar management was able to repair the tire on their time, rather than delaying a load for an unplanned road emergency. On a second instance, a 7/16th wrench's circle end stuck into the dump truck tire. Once again, Cimbar saved money by having the tire repaired at a maintenance shop rather than on a roadside service call.
Bennett said these two instances paid for the T-RAC system. If the system works on the truck that makes six 140-mile trips daily, it will work on all types of haulers and trailers, Bennett said. "If I was in the trucking business, I would recommend business owners putting the T-RAC systems on every truck in the fleet. This is an amazing product. I can rest at ease when our trucks are on the road with the T-RAC system."
