No blow outs & no road service fees

Georgia Southern Transportation, a Cartersville, Ga. based trucking company, experienced an immediate decrease in tire wear after retrofitting 25 trailers with T-RAC. This represents an important saving to a company that spends on average $275 per trailer tire, amounting to approximately $2,200 for a set of eight new tires. Georgia Southern operates a fleet of 215 trailers hauling general freight throughout the southeast and lower Midwestern United States.

The 25 trailers with the T-RAC have not experienced any tire blow outs or needed tire replacement since installation began. Jim Smith, president of Georgia Southern Transportation estimates $15,000 in savings in tread life alone. Because Georgia Southern trailers have had no blowouts on the road, he's saved money from service fees, which average about $500 an incident. He's also saved money by having no delay fees. Georgia Southern plans to place the device on 25 to 50 new trailers in 2007.

Another key advantage of the T-RAC is that Georgia Southern has saved on fuel because its trailer tires maintain a constant air pressure of 100 to 110 psi. Though Georgia Southern has no data to calculate fuel savings, company representatives suspect these savings will rival the savings in tire life. "We've had phenomenal success with the T-RAC. I would recommend it to anyone. I think anybody that uses it will require it on their future purchases," said Jim Smith, president of Georgia Southern Transportation.
